I find faux pearl garlands snarled with unwanted Christmas decorations at garage sales and rescue it for this fun idea. A few years ago someone gave me my own initial and I have it hanging on a corner shelf in my studio.
These are the supplies you need: Thick wire, thin wire and faux pearl garland. My wire is 16 gauge annealed, and 28 gauge. If you don’t have those sizes, your wire probably will work, so try what you have.
Form the letters, then lay the garland on the wire holding it snuggly while you wrap the thin wire around the string in between each pearl. It is pretty easy to get it wrapped after you get it started. When you reach the end, wrap the wire several times so it holds firmly and clip the end close to the wire.
I plan to make more of these at Christmas: Joy, Noel, Santa. For now, I need to make up a few to tuck into a birthday card. But for today you can DIY!
