You might as well know I am messy. Yesterday the worktable was stacked at least 12 inches high the result of my furious pace to make stuff this weekend. Usually I like to organize but recently hit a wall where I felt indifferent about making order midst the chaos. I follow “Duct Tape and Denim” on Twitter and got inspired by her blog on Sunday. Wah lah! I cleaned the studio yesterday. WHEW! So this is your official invitation to see where ” the magic happens” LOL
My hubby is a real estate man and we share this room. He gets the short end of the stick as I have taken most of the real estate. The necklaces on the top of the hutch are my first inventory pieces for the Merry Mermaid booth in November. I make the crowns for shops in the area. And I absolutely couldn’t do my art without the computer!
Beads, beads, beads! Couldn’t make my fun valances without them. The little drawers on the top shelf hold all my jewelry making supplies.
I am so grateful for this studio window that lets in the perfect hazy light to photograph my valances. I usually am working on a valance it is fun to find the perfect color combo. Speaking of valances, I made the whimsical one at the window top for myself, it makes me smile every time.
Just a bunch of silly stuff that hangs on two antique coat check hangers!
The next wall is organizes all my glass (for valances) canvases and scrapbooking paper for mixed media adventures, soldering supplies, boxes of doll parts and a box of supplies for the crowns.
The workspace table just rests on two bookshelves so there is room for organizing drawers underneath. I made the white hanging lamp with about 200 white plastic Safeway shopping bags!
A dear friend Rosie gave me her heirloom cruet set that I fill with my glitter! The black case on the top of the shelf is an old man’s briefcase that I decorated. It is my traveling sample case so I drag it along when I go on vacation and promote my stuff.
When I purchase a piece of art, it usually has a special spiritual meaning to me. I got the upcycled paint chip art piece because it had 4 lambs which represent my four kids. I admit my heart is always looking forward to Heaven. A few years ago I had a paradigm shift in my thinking after I read Revelation 21: ”
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Those verses popped all my imaginations about walking on fluffy clouds and playing harps! I know what it is like to live on earth. I don’t know what it is like to live in Heaven. But Heaven is moving to earth SOMEDAY.
When I saw these Byzantine portraits by Zemula Fleming at Sunrose Gallery. I started collecting them because to me they represented Heaven coming down to earth. I am a natural brunette but started coloring my hair blonde about 27 years ago. I broke out laughing one day because I had the thought “I probably will be brunette again in Heaven”. Unless I have a choice, isn’t that a silly thought? So the Byzantine lady in white represents me someday wearing a white robe in my eternal life and the other lady represents me being “a child of the King…or a princess” with the time I have left here until I croak or Jesus comes!
Guarantee the studio won’t look like this by the end of the week, but it was nice to have it clean for your visit!
What a awesome place to feel inspired. It looks awesome! =)

thanks! It feels good….but knowing me, it won’t be pretty for long. I am making 30 more driftwood crosses this morning and I am a messy worker. LOL

I believe a messy studio is a sign of a creative mind… this is my excuse for my art room! Lol! 😄 But I’m a lot like you, every now and then I have to put things in their place at least for a day or two! I enjoyed seeing your studio and I love your whimsical coat hanger valences! So clever! 👍 I have lots of beads too – I used to be a beader. I will probably come back to it some day but am enjoying the mixed media chaos right now! ❤️🎨 Cheers friend!

We are actually together 24/7! When he is at the computer and I am gluing away, sometimes I sneak over and kiss the top of his bald head. LOL
