Yikes, I have to use the last of my Dollar Tree shells, because I ordered a case of 36 more bags and they will be here any day now. I get a case of shells at a time because I make a lot of beachy stuff! Since it is shipped to my local store it’s free shipping.
Dollar Tree has little rolls of bright colored raffia ribbon so I picked up some rolls this weekend. I had been wondering if the idea for a Welcome Garland would be as cute on the door as it was in my head. LOL
I make an “appointment” to spend an hour every month drilling holes in the shells with my Dremel and a brand new masonry drill bit. When the hour is up, and I have a drawer full of drilled shells……until the drawer is empty and it is time to fill it up again. I do not look forward to drilling the holes, but it is better than going to the dentist! It takes about 10-15 seconds to make the hole if you have a fresh drill bit.
I use the drilled shells in my beachy valances, chandeliers, dream catchers, and Christmas ornaments.
I harvest font from magazines and decoupaged the alphabet letters in vibrant summer colors. I used little wooden beads on the end of the raffia so it wouldn’t slip through the hole in the shell.
This little garland is whimsical and a little sassy just like I hoped it would be! I tucked the ends of the raffia into the large bead and used glue so the loop will not come undone.
And how you put them together
