I faced the truth! I have too many magazines, some of them are over 10 years old so I have been going through a stacks of them when I have some extra minutes. Some of the older issues had many articles featuring sepia and amber palettes which reminded me of leaves which inspired me to make an artful wreath. So I ripped a good pile of images out of them.
I had quite a stack of images and cut two pieces for each leaf so they would be sturdy and hold their shape.
I concentrated on artful images and got a good mix of oranges, tans, blacks and crimson.
After gluing fronts and backs together, I applied some gold foil to each leaf. Then I made a pinch at each leaf bottom, squirted hot glue and inserted a piece of annealed 20 gauge wire with a curl at the top and a few inches at the bottom to wrap around the wire form.
The fun in using the magazine art is you see something different every time you look!
This project was really fun to make and didn’t take a lot of time. I think it would be fun to make one for every season! For now I made a big dent in the warm toned paper and I put about 15 magazines in the recycling bin. The magazines leave and there’s a trail of leaves : )
omg how do you think of these things. That is such a fantastic idea. I would have never thought of it!. and its really pretty and fun!! You are extremely creative =)
