Do you make lists? I find satisfaction in making them and crossing everything off. Then I make another one. LOL I make lists to un- cloud my mind. I remember something….write it down, now I don’t have to remember it! Gone is the nagging feeling that I am forgetting something.
I love lists of words. Last fall I found a list of the 10 Virtues of the Modern Age. The words inspired 10 pieces of art and were the centerpiece for a “Featured Artist” show in Astoria, Oregon.
I have fresh inspiration for 2018 and plan to make fresh and fun Scripture themed art along side my usual repurposed and upcycled pieces. Last November I was reading 2 Peter 1 and did a double-take after reading verses 5-9.
“Make every effort to add (I’ll be referring to this word soon….it’s a Greek Goodie) to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge self control, and to self control, perseverance, and to perseverance godliness, and to godliness, mutual affection and to mutual affection, love.”
Huh! By golly that is a list. Immediate curiosity grabbed me and I have read 2 Peter everyday since. I made myself a little Desk Dollie and printed out the scripture so I could set it by the computer.
So Desk Dollies were born and I will sell them in my WhimziVille shop on Etsy. It is one thing to read scripture, another thing to understand it, and still another to take it where the rubber meets the road and apply it.
When I study a verse it comes alive. I go to BibleHub.com and click, click, click. Since the words have been translated from another language into English when I click on the actual meaning of the word out pops what I call a “Greek Goodie”
Today’s Greek Goodie
epichoregesate=supplement or add
“Richly supply everything needed for an ancient chorus to be a grand production, properly, LAVISHLY supply.”
To tell the truth I am not that excited about adding goodness, self control, knowledge, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love. I just thought of something funny…..I have to get a NEW ADDITIDE!!!!!
I guess the Lord thinks if a little is good a lot is better. LOL
So I made this piece of art “2 Peter: 1-5” last November. This is the list. I think it is a good way to start 2018
