Finally! Garage Sale season has begun and I am off and running. No one wants what I want. YAY! #1. I am looking for a bargain because I am going to sell it at one of the local shops for a commission. #2. It has to be quirky and inspiring like this watch with a domed watch face and star constellations to keep time by.
The domed face reminded me of an astronaut and I wanted to make the watch a head in a collage. HUH! The title popped into my imagination….. “A Girl With Her Head In the Stars.”
I covered the constellations with some Stickles glitter glue and made the girl a pretty dress with a pretty ribbon rose at the neckline.and flowing hair with ArtEmboss.
I have a collection of clip art legs and arms which I printed on cardstock and attached them to the ArtEmboss dress. I also had the clip art stairs and I used my photo software to type the saying that popped into my head in white font so it would stand out. I covered the box with celestial themed scrapbooking paper and adhered the stairs and doll to the inside. Next, for a little glam I used hot glue to attach a shimmery diamond wrap border.
I admit this whimsical collage collage is biographical! I am the “Girl With Her Head In the Stars!” I can’t help but remember everyday that Earth is not my “real home.”
Each day seems like a step up….closer to the Maker of the Stars. Daniel 12: 2-3 gives us a glimpse of eternity:
“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars.”
