“Ka-Boom” Glass Wreath

“KABOOM” GLASS WREATH

Some folks decorate year round with red, white and blue, others love to put out some special pieces in time for the Fourth of July.  I imagine this glass wreath filling space in a patriotic wall grouping or on a front door.  My goal was to simulate the burst of fireworks in a whimsical way and I am so happy how it turned out.

It was fun to make with one of the last wreaths from the case of wreath forms from Dollar Tree.

I sorted some red, white and blue stained glass but felt the blue glass was too plain so I put enamel polka dots on the blue glass with navy blue enamel craft paint.

After the polka dots were dry I covered the edges of the glass with copper foil.

I cut 15″ lengths of 16 gauge copper wire and made a loop on the inside ring of the wreath then brought the wire to crisscross the front of the glass and then folded the wire at the backside of the glass.  When you crimp the copper wire with pliers it holds the piece of glass very snug so it won’t move!  Just to make sure, I applied a dab of resin craft glue on the back where the glass and wire met.
