I was so happy to find this little box of note cards for 25 cents at a garage sale recently! I mistook the art for Van Gogh, the back of the cards says “Bouquet of Sunflowers” by Claude Monet.
I like making whimsical little dolls, they don’t sell like hotcakes, but they sell! I keep a supply of round wood heads and have lots of clip art faces. The stationary box only had three note cards in it, and I used one of them to make the little doll’s sunflower crown and lovely little sunflower bouquet.
I happened on the quote “Bring Your Own Sunshine” when I checked Pinterest the other day and immediately thought of the sunflowers. The note card was covered in the same print as the box front so I cut out all the sunflowers and used them to make the crown, her collar, and attached some of them to 20 gauge annealed wire for a bouquet.
I used the same wire to make arms and legs and adhered the arms with a yellow ribbon rose and hot glue. Then I cut another length and made some little circles to hang some ArtEmboss pieces with the words: Bring Your Own Sunshine.
Her orange plastic heels are the finishing touch for a whimsical little doll who will brighten someones day…..someday.
Isn’t the phrase “BRING YOUR OWN SUNSHINE” a good reminder not to be dependant on others to always brighten up our lives? I remember a song I learned in Sunday School as a child.
Jesus and Others and You,
what a wonderful way to spell J-O-Y
Jesus and Others and You,
In the life of each girl and each boy.
J- is for Jesus because He has First Place,
O- is for others who run in God’s race,
Y- is for you and whatever you do,
Put “J” in first place and spell J-O-Y!
Now that song is inspiration….on how you bring your own sunshine!
Love it!
