Easy Pumpkin Light Box

This darling Jack’o Lantern in the window is the last of the calendar pages.  I thought I would make a collage but decided instead to make a light box with a vellum liner so the tea light in the back flickers for a “scary” glow.

The calendar pages were one of the best finds this summer!  Three of the collages I made with the calendars are sitting in Sunrose Gallery in downtown Seaside, Oregon.

I got the box with attached lid at Goodwill recently.  I removed the lid with a razor blade.

I applied Mod Podge to all the sides and covered with extra fine blue glitter to match the window frame on the calendar page.

Above is a vellum inkjet copy of the Jack’o Lantern that I attached to the back of the original calendar page for dimension.  Since the vellum filters the light, the tealight shines through and makes a fun light box.

I used a large bit in my drill to cut a hole in the back of the box and used hot glue to attach a battery operated tea light in the hole.

  1. Tis the season – we had chilly weather today and it made me think of Fall … it’s been so hot here in SE Michigan that no one has put up their harvest decor yest – usually they do it right after Labor Day, if not that weekend. I’ll have to mention it in an upcoming blog post. The weather has been so wacky here that you don’t know what to think these days.
