Keep Calm & Walk the Dog!

“KEEP CALM AND WALK THE DOG” 10X10 MIXED MEDIA

If the ArtEmboss dress looks familiar to you, good eye!  I made a mixed media piece in April and it had it’s chance to sell at Sunrose Gallery but it didn’t in the six months of it’s stay, so I took the piece apart and salvaged this dress.

GARAGE SALE WATCH FEATURE

I just loved this whimsical watch face with conselations on the clock face. Plus I loved the saying on the stairs:  “She was a girl who had her head in the stars and had no fear of the future because she wasn’t afraid of the darkness.” Oh well, que sera sera!

I already had the face and arm images from digital downloads I purchase on Etsy.  I have a coffee table book about interior decorating and I get the best dog images from that book!  The base was a metal plaque I got at a garage sale this summer.

After the tan and burgandy acrylic paint was dry I made a quirky border with a gold felt pen around the edges.  I assembled the doll and attached her with hot glue.

Next, I cut some pretty gold covered wire for a leash and cut some pieces from a black rhinestone necklace for the classy collar.  Aleene’s Tacky Glue works fast and easy because it dries clear and just about disappears.

Once again I go to my magazine fonts.  It is so fun to have free and unusual letters!

Keep Calm.  In this day and age with so much confusion and division it is hard to keep a calm focus unless you believe that God is in control!  Even then it is sometimes hard to keep calm.  My peace comes from daily reading the Bible plus understanding to my inner being that God is good and there is a plan that ends up for the good!

Walk the Dog.  This is good advice….if you have a dog!  I used to walk our dog Charlie everyday but he is gone.  However I still get a 3 mile walk in almost everyday and walking is the best exercise if you ask me.  On my walk I de-stress by having a fun conversation with my mom who lives in Arizona, the magic of cell phones makes this possible.  Remember the days of land lines and long distance charges?

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

Hope everyone has a calm and happy day!
