Use That Washi Tape

This is an easy craft to do with the kids using washi tape and some cardstock.  I have SO MUCH washi tape and I am always looking for ways to use it because it does have a shelf life….it looses it’s stickness and gets hard after a while.

This little popsicle tree would be cute sitting on the  napkin at each place setting at the Christmas table with each person’s name on the star.  Or as a gift tag replacing the ribbon.  Write TO: & FROM: in jelly pen.

Here are the steps to make it.

Step One: Cut 12 four inch pieces of card stock in widths of your washi tape.

Step Two: Cover one side of the each piece of cardstock with washi tape.

Step Three: Starting at the bottom (leaving enough room on the popsicle stick to hold it) put a dab of hot glue on the popsicle stick and place one piece of cardstock with the washi tape side up. Then place the other pieces with hot glue to the popsicle stick working to the top.

Step Four: Turn the tree over and  cover the backs of each piece of the paper strips with the washi tape side out.  This time you will use hot glue across each piece instead of just a dab to glue the strips together.

Step Five:  Using scissors from the top, snip the ends to make a tree shape on the right and left side.

Step Six:  Decorate with a star and pipe cleaner that are attached with hot glue.

Washi tape is so easy to apply and you don’t have to be perfect, I like the tape haphazard!  I liked this one so much I printed it out to make a little Christmas plate for gift giving with my new waterslide decal inkjet paper. I just scanned the washi tape tree into my computer, printed it on the waterslide decal paper and slid it onto the thrift store plate.
