I like making light boxes for gifts. They can be a piece of art by day, and a night light by night. I bought a shadowbox picture frame that was the perfect size to use this Trip to the Moon image for a whimsical lightbox. I use Graphix brand vellum that has just the right amount of stiffness and goes easily in the printer.
Battery operated mini lights are so inexpensive nowadays, I got these mini lights at Dollar General for $3.00. They are absolutely fire safe to use inside a box for a night light.
Make a hole in the back of your box and stuff in the lights.
Tape the lights in place.
You don’t need the “moon” knicknack to make a darling “Trip to the Moon” light box, but I found this at Goodwill for 99 cents and thought it would add some character.
I added a fan of wire for a little drama.
Ta Dah! Now the back is finished with some scrapbook paper and the lights are attached to the box with some hot glue. It is nice and easy to turn off and on.
I cut the vellum to fit the box and attached it with a thin stream of hot glue. Washi tape makes a frame with some cute wood buttons attached at the corners to finish!
Very iconic!
