It’s been do-over week! Last year I was asked to be featured artist at Luminary Arts Gallery in Astoria, Oregon. Since they have a large wall to be filled I needed to make a collection with a theme : “The Ten Virtues of the Modern Age”.

Evidently no one identified with my Queen of Humor with a jumping chihuahua explaining how important humor was! So she was handed back to me my last visit to Luminary Arts. However my featured artist collection did have some success!
These two pieces came home to me for their redo’s.
These are the pieces that sold:
QUEEN OF EMPATHY
QUEEN OF HOPE
QUEEN OF RESILIENCE
QUEEN OF SELF AWARENESS
WHEN QUEENS DANCE
I marvel at the happy life of an artist. I am compelled to make whimsical art and local galleries pay rent in the hope to sell the art and thankfully there are people who like to decorate their homes with our creations. What a happy circle!
The first step in my redo was to find a new face. I have a coffee table book of vintage faces so I removed the face from my collage (an easy task because the face was applied with rubber cement.) I went through my book until I found a photo with a matching chin. Then I adjusted her forehead to match the crown.
The next step was to change the theme of the crown. “Humor” turned to “happy” using my FREE magazine fonts! I collect phrases and “think happy, be happy” seemed to fit the mixed media space perfectly using more magazine font.
My 10 x 10 mixed media piece has a new identity and hopefully it will find a new home to inspire someone soon! This is not the only piece that was sent home with me so next post I will take you on another creative do over!
Love these!
