Repurposed Inspiration: Altoid Tin Assemblages

altoid set

I found a bag of Altoid tins in the “FREE” box at a garage sale earlier this summer and I finally got around to turning them into little assemblages with junk I have sitting in the studio.

altoid jesse and janet

It is amazing how my art sells at Sunrose Gallery here in Seaside, Oregon.  Folks often purchase my work for a gift.  Sometimes the piece sells because of it’s title or theme like this retro themed shrine.

altoid chemistry side view

I used periodic tables scrapbook paper to emphasize CHEMISTRY, so it might sell to a science major.

Here’s to peace and happiness!

altoid kangaroo

How can someone pass up a whimsical “BE HAPPY” reminder?  LOL.  I used a glass votive candle holder that is attached to a tin can lid.  The kangaroos have been sitting on a shelf for years.

altoid heart

I covered a thread spool with corrigated aluminum I got at a thrift store and made a vintage button heart.

I have had the big ceramic red macrame bead for 7 years!  Wow I can’t believe it has finally found a use as the feature for this assemblage.

These were so fun to make I have already started on another batch of assemblages!

  1. Yay! I love Altoid tin crafts! I used them for my “Foster and Panda play sets” awhile back and the kids who tried them had a blast! I did a post about it last year some time. How fun to find a whole bag of them for free! (I guess some people don’t recognize a treasure when they see it LOL) 😋
