I have several containers of vintage white buttons and am always looking for inspiration how to use them. It looks like button covered letters are quite popular looking at Etsy and Pinterest!
I picked up the letter “L” my last trip to Joann’s Fabric store for less than $2.00 and gave it a quick coat of gesso ( a really thick white opaque acrylic paint). After some help from my hair dryer, the piece was ready to coat with buttons in 5 minutes!
Step One: Cover the letter with white paint on top and sides. Let dry.
Step Two: Squeeze out E6000 in 2″ sections and cover the glue with buttons.
It took about 45 minutes to cover the whole 7.5″ letter with buttons. I have listed it in my Etsy shop and it will be fun to see how fast it sells!
I went on Pinterest and found other projects that are fun and creative using buttons that are worth sharing:
A nice project for the mantle.
This looks good enough to eat!
So very whimsical!
The frame and the typography give the letter a definite upgrade!
Easy and whimsical!
I am jealous I didn’t think of this….of all the images this is my favorite.
