Freebie Friday: Free Printable Seagull Greeting Card

seagull feature.jpg

I made this card from a mixed media collage I recently made for Sunrose Gallery here in Seaside, Oregon.  Cathy Tippen is the owner and she texted me…we are all out of “seagulls and crows”.   Translation: make a bunch of 5 x 7 size collages with the saying “Today I will be happy as…. with a seagull or crow featured with a french fry.

Since I had just picked up a 12 x 12 gallery wrapped canvas for $1.00 at a garage sale I decided to make a larger version for Cathy using magazine font for the sentiment.

It is so fun to repurpose gallery wrapped canvas art…usually they are marked for a few dollars or less!

seagull gesso

I cover the graphics with a nice coat (or two) of gesso….very thick acrylic paint.

Since the artwork is square, I needed a border on the top and bottom to fill in the white spaces at the top and bottom of the 5 x 7 greeting card.  I have SO MANY BORDERS….purchased from Etsy that add interest, color and the feeling of texture to the card.  The borders have transparent backgrounds to you can use them anywhere on the card.  Borders are so fun!

It’s so fun to get double duty from a piece of mixed media art!
