Believe it or not, this fresh as spring window valance is made with scrapbooking paper and plastic canvas for cross stitch!
I used one 6 x 6 paper scrapbooking pad to make this valance that fits a 30″ wide window. PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH… I used the two paper punches and made 90 complete flowers. Each flower needed two large flower pieces (180 total!) and one small flower (90 total!). Finally, each completed flower got a self stick rhinestone in the center.
I used a dab of hot glue to secure the three flower pieces together with a rhinestone in the middle. When each one was finished I put like colors together so it is easy to make a pattern.
Next, cut the plastic canvas into a strip that resembles rail road tracks. Trim the extra as necessary. I used a silicone baking mat because hot glue doesn’t stick to it! Lay down the top flower and secure with a line of hot glue on the plastic canvas strip making sure the top hole isn’t covered because that is how you are going to hang it.
Hot glue a penny or small weight on the bottom of the flower strand and cover with some scrapbooking paper.
I have my valance hung with hooks I make for the valances I sell in my Etsy Shop: LittleLaLaOriginals. The pieces are easy to attach with store bought pinch curtain rings.
I found an easy way for you to make your own hooks for this valance.
Take a paper clip and bend the inside section UP. Take the section that you bent up and pull the right side to stretch it out and then bend it around your curtain rod so it looks like this:
Have fun making your own valance. My paper stack was on sale for $2.99 and I got the rhinestones for $2.29. The plastic cross stitch canvas was .69 cents so my valance cost $5.97! Oh I forgot to add the hot glue and the pennies….but they were just pennies worth.
